Retreat Home provides safe, stable temporary housing for families experiencing housing insecurity through a volunteer home-sharing model that keeps children housed, supports families, and creates safe, respectful spaces of belonging through shared support and connection.
We are Neighbors Housing Neighbors.
What we do
Retreat Home has refined a volunteer home-sharing model that addresses both the practical and relational needs of families as they work toward long-term stability. We seek to keep children housed, support families, and create safe respectful spaces of belonging. We emphasize relational stabilization, community engagement, and existing residential space reuse - an innovative, sustainable response to the affordable housing crisis that helps combat the isolation that often accompanies housing instability.
Who we serve
The majority of families we serve are working families whose incomes are insufficient to meet the rising costs of housing and other basic necessities. These families are often ineligible for public assistance programs and unable to afford market-rate housing. If an unexpected event occurs (health issue, rent increase, etc.), families must choose among food, housing, child care, and other basic needs. Our model allows children to remain safely housed with their parents and removes the cost of rent and utilities while families work toward long-term housing solutions.
